Suriya has a huge fan following in Telugu states since the release of “Ghajini.” He didn’t release any movies in theaters in the last five years. OTT platforms directly streamed his recent acclaimed films like “Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra” and “Jai Bhim.” Therefore, there was a tremendous deal of excitement surrounding his latest release, Kanguva.
The hype around “Kanguva” was huge. It’s not surprising that the film experienced a strong opening in Telugu states. The film took a stronger opening than the other Telugu release, Varun Tej’s Matka.
On the first day, “Kanguva” faced a significant amount of trolling on social media. The reviews were also mostly negative. Other than the grand visuals, the critics noted that the content was confusing and convoluted.
Irrespective of trolling, “Kanguva” opened well on the first day, proving Suriya’s stardom. What happens after the first weekend will determine this film’s success.
Directed by Siva, “Kanguva” featured Disha Patani as the heroine. Karthi did a cameo appearance.
