Devi Sri Prasad, one of India’s highest-paid and most celebrated music directors, is stepping into a new phase of his career. After delivering blockbuster albums for over 25 years and earning a National Award, DSP is now set to make his debut as a lead actor.
He will star in “Yellamma,” a rural Telangana-based drama directed by Venu Yeldandi and produced by Dil Raju.
DSP has already begun intensive physical preparation for the role. The project has been in the spotlight for months, as actors Nithiin and Nani were initially considered before the role finally landed with Devi Sri Prasad.
Keerthy Suresh was the first choice for the female lead, but she recently clarified in a media interaction in Hyderabad that she is not part of the film. With her opting out, the makers are now scouting for a top-tier actress to pair opposite DSP. Names like Sai Pallavi are being discussed, though she may decline due to her commitment to large-scale projects like Ramayana.
It remains to be seen which leading lady will join DSP for his much-anticipated acting debut.
