Dhanush’s Ilaiyaraaja biopic not shelved: Team

Speculation has been doing the rounds about the fate of the much-anticipated biopic on legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, with Dhanush set to portray the maestro on screen. The Ilaiyaraaja biopic project was announced long ago, but the prolonged silence around it led many to believe that it had been quietly shelved.

The rumors gained further traction after Dhanush recently launched his 55th film, co-starring Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela, while the biopic’s director moved on to another project featuring filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj in the lead role.

Putting an end to all the speculation, Ilaiyaraaja’s team officially clarified on social media that the biopic is very much alive and progressing. According to the update, the film will go on floors once the director completes his current commitments.

Ilaiyaraaja remains an unparalleled force in Indian cinema. With music composed for over 1,300 films across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and several other languages, his timeless melodies continue to influence generations and play a crucial role in the success of films even today.
