Director B Jaya, popular for films like ‘Chantigadu’ and ‘Lovely’, passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday night following heart-related ailment. She was 54 and is survived by her husband B A Raju, a popular journalist. Jaya began career as film journalist.
She breathed her last at 9.20 pm on Thursday, family sources said.
She made debut as director with ‘Chantigadu’ that starred Baladitya and Suhasini. Later she went on to direct ‘Premikulu’, ‘Saval’, Ali starrer ‘Gundamma Gari Manavadu’, ‘Lovely’ and ‘Vaishakam’.
It was she who introduced Kamna Jethmalini who has acted in many hit movies. Actress Suhasini also debuted in ‘Chantigadu’. Child artiste Baladitya also debuted as lead actor in her movie. Shanvi Srivastava is also her find. Shanvi debuted in Jaya’s ‘Lovely’, which was a musical hit. B Jaya was also popular short story writer.
