Nag Ashwin delivered a massive Rs 1000 crore blockbuster with “Kalki 2898 AD.” Despite delivering such a huge hit, Prabhas has not shown interest in starting the second part of the franchise immediately. He has indefinitely postponed Kalki 2 and continued focusing on other committed projects.
This left Nag Ashwin with limited options. To keep the momentum going and avoid shelving the project entirely, he has reportedly decided to direct a small-scale film as a quick interim project.
The upcoming film is said to be made on a modest budget, featuring newcomers, and will serve as a short-gap venture before he returns to Kalki 2 with Prabhas in about two years.
More details are yet to be confirmed.
Nag Ashwin is aware that bringing together a stellar cast like Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Prabhas in Kalki 2 will become even more challenging if the project is delayed by two or three years.
