It's official: Rajinikanth announces party

It is official now. The suspense has ended. Rajinikanth has announced his political entry.

It was in the mid-1990s that Rajinikanth influenced the outcome of the elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.  J Jayalalitha’s AIADMK was voted out of power by his supporters.

On the last day of 2017, the same Superstar has announced the launch of a political party.  In 2018, this party will be built from the basics, at the grassroots level, in the villages of TN.  “We are going to contest in all the 234 Assembly segments in the next Assembly elections. We want to change the governance,” he said on Sunday. “Our agenda is hard work, honesty and development,” he added.

The biggest punchline to come from him is this:  “If we fail to fulfill the promises made in 3 years, our government will quit.” The actor also recalled what late editor Cho Ramaswamy once told him. “He asked me to be careful about the media. I miss him these days,” he said.

Rajini on Saturday announced the release date of ‘2.0’ as April 14, while ‘Kaala’ will release in June. “Only God knows what after ‘Kaala’,” he said. With the superstar’s political entry, his fans are naturally ecstatic. The BJP has welcomed him and wished him the best.
