The Malayalam film “L2 Empuraan,” starring Mohanlal, has sparked controversy after social media folks and some groups accused it of portraying Hindus in a negative light. Several individuals raised concerns about the film’s political messaging, leading to heated discussions.
In response, producer Gokulam Gopalan has voluntarily agreed to edit certain scenes, including muting some dialogues.
Reports indicate that the film will undergo 17 additional cuts in the coming days. These edits include changing the villain’s name and removing scenes perceived as anti-Hindu or depicting violence against women.
The primary controversy revolves around the portrayal of riots, with critics arguing that the film presents a biased narrative—depicting one community negatively while favoring another. Amid the backlash, writer Murali Gopy has declined to comment on the matter.
