Lyricist Kandikonda Yadagiri, popularly known as Kandikonda, has died. He was 49. Kandikonda died Saturday in Hyderabad after a battle with prolonged illness.
Kandikonda had penned many hit songs. He shot to fame with the song “Malli Kooyave Guva” from Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam’ (2001). His association with music director Chakri and director Puri Jagannadh continued for many years.
He also wrote hit songs like “Ee Roje Telisindi” in ‘Idiot’, “Madhurame Madhurame” in ‘Satyam’, “Gala Gala Paaruthunna Godarila” in ‘Pokiri’. He also wrote songs in ‘Chiruta’, ‘Lingaa’, ‘Temper’, ‘Needi Naadi Oke Katha’, etc.
Hailing from Warangal district in Telangana, he began his career as a writer for folk songs. His health deteriorated due to COVID-19. The government of Telangana and several Tollywood celebrities came forward to help him financially for his treatment.
