Amid speculation that director Maruthi would return to making modest-budget comedies following the disappointing outcome of Prabhas-starrer “The Raja Saab,” the filmmaker’s team issued an official clarification today.
Several reports and social media posts had claimed that Maruthi was planning to move away from big-budget projects and refocus on small-scale entertainers. These rumors gained traction after “The Raja Saab” failed miserably at the box office.
Dismissing these reports, Team Maruthi released a firm statement calling them untrue. The statement read: “The news currently circulating about Director #Maruthi’s next project is completely baseless and misleading. An official announcement about his next project will be made through authorized channels.”
Maruthi is known for films such as “Prema Katha Chitram” and “Bhale Bhale Magadivoy.” Despite delivering flops like “Pakka Commercial,” Prabhas entrusted him with directing “The Raja Saab.” However, the film, which hit theaters during the Sankranthi season, turned out to be the first major disaster of 2026.
