‘Mirai’ essentially is a family entertainer: Teja Sajja

As the much-anticipated “Mirai” gears up for its theatrical release on September 12, lead actor Teja Sajja took some time from his busy promotional schedule to open up about the film, his character, and the journey behind making this ambitious project. Here are the key excerpts from his exclusive interview.

On the Impact of ‘HanuMan’ Becoming a Pan-India Hit:

“There’s no change in how I approach my films. Honestly, I put more effort into ‘HanuMan’ than I did into ‘Mirai’. There was far more pressure during HanuMan’s making. For Mirai, we simply focused on telling a heartfelt story without any extra baggage or expectations. Every film is special to me, and my goal is always to give 100%.

About ‘Mirai’ and His Role:

“We made Mirai exactly the way we had planned from day one. After HanuMan’s success, we didn’t alter the script or change direction. My core audience is the Telugu market, and this film is made with them in mind.

It’s a story about how far a son will go for his mother’s dream. There’s also a meaningful angle involving Lord Sriram, which blends naturally into the narrative without feeling forced. Though it’s a small portion, it leaves a strong impact. Plus, there are two major surprises in the film that I’m excited for audiences to experience. I play an ordinary young guy.

Biggest Action Challenge:

“There are nine major action blocks in the film. Every sequence posed its own challenges. No matter the risks we took, the goal was always to thrill the audience. I’m confident they will feel the adrenaline when they watch it on release day.”

Working with Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu, and Manchu Manoj:

“It was a full-circle moment acting with Jagapathi Babu, since I first worked with him as a child actor. Shriya madam is simply adorable, and I’m grateful to have shared screen space with such talented senior actors. Manchu Manoj plays a powerful character that adds great depth to the film.”

On Production Experience:

“We rarely get to work with producers as passionate as TG Vishwa Prasad. From day one, he backed us completely, giving us the creative freedom to make something extraordinary. That trust only raised our responsibility to deliver.”

What’s Next?

“My approach is simple – when I commit to a project, I stick to it till release. As of now, Zombi Reddy 2 is the only other film I’m committed to. I prefer to give my full attention to one film at a time.”
