The streaming giant Amazon Prime video’s announcement of bagging the rights of seven Indian films including Amitabh’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ has created a sensation of sorts.
Producers selecting an OTT platform for public consumption of their movies bypassing the traditional theatrical release is a path-breaking moment. Now that Bollywood, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada producers had taken a bold step, the Telugu industry is also gearing up for closing the deals.
If everything falls in place, Anushka starrer ‘Nishabdham’ might become the first such Telugu biggie to stream on OTT platforms bypassing the theatrical window. Our sources inform that the producers of ‘Nishabdham’ have been holding discussions with streaming giants. Currently, a big company has taken the discussion to the final stage.
