India sent Lijo Jose Pellissery”s ‘Jallikattu’ to consider it as Best International Film at the 93rd Academy Awards. However, the film has failed to make it to the preliminary round of fifteen films. This year, the Oscars jury has shortlisted 15 films to considering for voting for nominations unlike the previous years of selecting only 9.
Indian films are consistently failing to make it to the shortlist.
‘Jallikattu’ could not make it to this list of 15. So, it is out of the Oscars race. Of these selected fifteen films, five are nominated and then one will be announced as the best International film. Feature films from 93 countries were eligible in the category. The final nominations for the Oscars will be announced on March 15.
