Pawan Kalyan on HHVM: The grand response met our goal

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan made a rare public appearance at the success meet of his latest film “Hari Hara Veera Mallu,” held today in Hyderabad. Marking a personal milestone, he revealed that this was the first time in his 29-year career he had attended a film’s success celebration.

Pawan Kalyan confirmed that the sequel, “Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 2,” is definitely on the way and expressed hope that it would be completed soon, noting that nearly 30 percent of the shoot has already been wrapped.

Addressing the trending hashtag calling for a boycott of the film, he took a dig at his political detractors. “I wonder if the release of my film gave some people sleepless nights. Did it really rattle them that much?” he asked.

“I usually stay away from film promotions. This is actually the first success meet I’ve ever attended. Since I’m now the Deputy Chief Minister, I thought releasing the film would be easier. But I haven’t had proper sleep in the past week,” he said candidly. “In the past two days, I’ve spoken more about my career and experiences than I have in nearly three decades as an actor.”

Reflecting on his unconventional journey, he said, “I never imagined myself as a hero. Fate made me both a hero and a politician.”

Look for emotional resonance

Responding to criticism about the film’s visual effects, Pawan Kalyan urged audiences to focus on its emotional and cultural depth. “I’ve always been skeptical about period films. What matters more than the VFX is the emotional resonance. Why don’t we celebrate our own historical icons like Krishnadevaraya and Rudramadevi? Our history has often overlooked the greatness of our native rulers.”

He went on to criticize the historical narratives that glorify invaders while marginalizing local legends. “History was written in a way that diminished our kings. Aurangzeb has been dead for centuries, yet even today, people become uncomfortable when his atrocities are mentioned. Those cruelties were deliberately hidden from public discourse,” he added.
