At a time when many star-driven films are stretching close to three hours or even beyond, director Harish Shankar has chosen a different path for “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” starring Pawan Kalyan.

The makers have locked the film with a runtime of 2 hours and 33 minutes, according to the certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. When the opening and closing credits are excluded, the actual film duration reportedly comes down to around 2 hours and 20 minutes.

In recent times, many big-ticket films have been released with three-hour runtimes, with a few even crossing the three-and-a-half-hour mark. Such lengthy durations have often tested audience patience. In this backdrop, the relatively shorter runtime of “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is seen as a big advantage.

Industry buzz suggests that Harish Shankar has packed the film with entertaining episodes, punchy dialogues, and mass action blocks, ensuring the narrative moves at a brisk pace. For an action entertainer, this tighter runtime could help maintain audience engagement.

Interestingly, although the film features Pawan Kalyan in the role of a police officer, sources say he appears without the khaki uniform for nearly half of the film, hinting at a slightly different treatment of the cop character.

With strong expectations surrounding the film, “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is set to hit theaters on March 19.
