Actor Prakash Raj has issued a clarification amid the ongoing controversy over his alleged remarks on Lord Sriram and Hinduism.
Sharing a video message, the actor stated that his comments from a recent literary festival were misinterpreted and distorted. He emphasized that he never made any derogatory statements about Lord Sriram, whom he referred to as an “avatara purush.”
Prakash Raj explained that his speech was centered on art, but certain sections were taken out of context and presented in a way that suggested he disrespected Hindu beliefs.
“I respect all religions and love all people. I have no reason to make such comments,” he said, adding that some individuals are deliberately misrepresenting his views because he questions those who use religion to create divisions.
He further mentioned that he understands the backlash but believes it stems from discomfort over his outspoken views.
Concluding his message on a lighter note, Prakash Raj said he is currently busy with farm work near Hyderabad and will respond more strongly once he completes his work.
On the professional front, he has recently wrapped up his portion for S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming film “Varanasi.”
