The Telugu film industry wrapped up 2025 on a mixed note, and 2026 is set to begin with a slate of small-budget films hitting theatres even before the Sankranthi season arrives. On the very first day of the New Year, January 1, 2026, a few notable releases are lined up to test their luck at the box office.
Among them, “Psych Siddhartha,” starring Shree Nandu in the lead role, has already generated decent buzz. Slated for a January 1 release, the dark comedy is directed by Varun Reddy and features Yaamini Bhaskar as the female lead, with music composed by Smaran Sai.
Another film releasing on the same day is “VanaVeera,” which has been promoted actively in recent weeks. The film stars Avinash Thiruveedhula and Simran Choudhary in the lead roles and also features Shree Nandu in a different and important role.
Joining the New Year lineup is “Sahakutumbaanaam,” starring Raam Kiran and Megha Akash, directed by Uday Sharma. Additionally, Ashika Ranganath’s Kannada film “Gatha Vaibhavam,” dubbed into Telugu, is also set for a January 1 theatrical release.
With multiple modestly budgeted films arriving simultaneously, the opening day of 2026 promises variety for moviegoers ahead of the big Sankranthi releases..
