Calling her his “all-time favourite singer,” RGV said her voice gave an “immortal soul and raw youthful fire” to “Rangeela Re” from the film “Rangeela,” composed by A. R. Rahman. He described the song as a “thunderclap” that redefined Bollywood’s rebellious musical spirit, especially with Urmila Matondkar’s electrifying performance.
Ram Gopal Varma also reminisced about watching Asha Bhosle in the recording studio, recalling how she blended the poise of a legend with the curiosity of a newcomer, effortlessly adapting to Rahman’s new-age style.
He further noted the coincidence of the anniversary of “Khallas” from his film “Company,” calling it a “quintessential item song” powered by her commanding voice and enduring energy.
In his tribute, RGV described Asha Bhosle as “the heartbeat of an entire era,” praising her ability to span classical depth and modern sensibilities across generations. He concluded with an emotional message, saying her music will live on forever.
