Saiyaara: Bollywood scores a blockbuster with a love story

The Bollywood industry has been struggling to deliver a true blockbuster for quite some time. Even veteran superstars like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan failed to generate big openings with their recent films. However, “Saiyaara”, a romantic drama featuring newcomers in the lead roles, has taken everyone by surprise, raking in Rs 45 crore in India within just two days.

The film is expected to collect around Rs 70 crore by the end of its first weekend. This is going to be a remarkable feat for a project headlined by debutants. It stands as Bollywood’s first bona fide blockbuster in recent months.

Directed by Mohit Suri, known for musical hits like Aashiqui 2, Awarapan, and Kalyug, Saiyaara also struck a chord with the youth thanks to its chartbuster soundtrack. Suri’s signature musical touch has once again played a key role in the film’s success.

“Saiyaara” marks the debut of Ahan Panday, cousin of actress Ananya Panday, and Aneet Padda, who play the lead pair. Both actors have now become overnight sensations, gaining significant popularity across social media and youth circles.
