At the North American box office, “Salaar” and “Dunki” are raking in big bucks. While Prabhas’s “Salaar” has already surpassed the $6 million mark, “Dunki” has only grossed $4.5 million.
“Dunki” earned $200k more than “Salaar” on Christmas. Thus, Shah Rukh Khan’s film got upperhand over Prabhas’s film. Initially, Prabhas’ film ruled the show at the North American box office.
“Salaar” has already become one of the biggest Telugu hits in North America. Later this week, the film will cross the $7 million mark, making it the third highest grossing Telugu film ever after “Baahubali 2,” and “RRR.”
On the other hand, “Dunki” is expected to have a long run at the box office in the United States. In general, Hindi films perform well for two weeks. Shah Rukh Khan has a huge market and fan following in North America.
“Salaar,” directed by Prashanth Neel, is an action drama in the vein of “Game of Thrones.” This is the first installment, which starred Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran as friends.
Shah Rukh Khan’s film “Dunki” is about illegal immigrants. Rajkumar Hirani directed the film.
