Telugu cinema’s iconic duo, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Ram Gopal Varma (RGV), reunited in Hyderabad for the grand launch of the Shiva 4K Dolby Atmos trailer. The re-release celebrates 36 years of Shiva, a landmark film that redefined Telugu cinema.
Speaking at the event, Ram Gopal Varma reflected on the journey, saying, “It feels surreal to share the same stage with Nagarjuna after 36 years. We never imagined this would happen again. I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity and for the creative freedom Nagarjuna has always given me. Back then, I spent two months perfecting the sound design for Shiva, and now, after all these years, I’ve been given the same trust and freedom once more.”
Nagarjuna Akkineni, visibly moved, shared his thoughts on revisiting the film that made him a superstar. “Thirty-six years ago, RGV made Shiva and changed my life forever. Watching the remastered version today, I was amazed by how fresh it feels. RGV has worked tirelessly for six months to make this possible. When I experienced the Dolby Atmos sound, I wondered why today’s films don’t sound like this. Your parents’ generation heard Shiva in mono; now you’ll feel it in Dolby Atmos — it’s a whole new experience.”
Shiva 4K hits theatres on November 14, 2025.
