‘Skanda’ strikes stunning non-theatrical deals

The first collaboration between director Boyapati and actor Ram Pothineni has already paid huge dividends. The non-theatrical deals secured by the action drama are impressive.

According to our sources, producer Srinivasaa Chitturi has signed a Rs 54 crore deal with the Disney/Hotstar group. For Boyapati and Ram Pothineni, this is an unprecedented sum. The Hindi dubbing rights sold for an additional Rs 35 crore.

In addition, Rs 9 crore will be made from the sale of digital music streaming rights to music. In total, the film earned a huge Rs 98 crore from sources other than traditional theaters.

The movie “Skanda” is being marketed as a pan-Indian production, so it will be shown in all five Indian languages. Previous Boyapati film “Akhanda” garnered record views on Hotstar. That’s why a hefty sum was paid for this movie. On the other hand, the Hindi dubbing market for Ram Pothineni’s has consistently been strong.

Ram’s big show

The theatrical deals are also good but with “Warriorr” and “Custody” having been critical and commercial failures for the producer in the past, he may suffer some in theatrical deals. Overall, Srinivasaa Chitturi, the producer, is making big money even before the film is released.

The “Skanda” trailer was a hit, and the film will feature Ram Pothineni as a hulking hero who fights bad guys. The leading lady is Sreeleela. Thaman’s music, however, didn’t make much impression as of now.
