SSMB29: Vijayendra Prasad gives reasons for choosing this genre

Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli’s first collaboration (#SSMB29) recently began production in Hyderabad. The core cast of this globe-trotting adventure thriller includes Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra.

Writer Vijayendra Prasad, who pens the stories for the majority of his son Rajamouli’s directorial projects, explained why the genre was chosen – adventure thriller.

“Before beginning the story, we examined the recent history of films to determine if such a genre (adventure thriller) had been explored in Indian cinema, as well as what genre Mahesh Babu had not attempted. Thus, we focused on the present tale to provide the audience with a unique cinematic experience,” he added.

Interestingly, the film’s core plot is based on the novels of South African novelist Wilbur Smith, and Rajamouli and his brother SS Kanchi wrote the main script, with Vijayendra Prasad adding his own touch. The film’s production is now ongoing at the Aluminium Factory in Hyderabad.
