Director Sudha Kongara has approached the Madras High Court over alleged unpaid remuneration of Rs 8.39 crore for “Parasakthi”. Claiming that she has not received her contractual dues, the filmmaker has sought a stay on the release of an upcoming Tamil movie.
“Parasakthi”, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela, was released during the Pongal 2026 festival but ended up as a major box-office disappointment.
Sudha Kongara is well known to Telugu audiences for directing “Guru”, starring Venkatesh, and the acclaimed “Aakasam Nee Haddhu Raa”, featuring Suriya. Although she hails from a Telugu family, she built her career in the Tamil film industry after beginning as an assistant to legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam.
She is now battling a remuneration issue related to “Parasakthi”, which has reached the Madras High Court. She sought the court stopping of “Idhayam Murali” movie until the payment dispute is resolved.
