Sumanth Prabhas gained recognition with “Mem Famous”, but chose to be selective with his next projects despite receiving several offers. One of the films he turned down was “Raju Veds Rambai”, and he now reveals the reason behind that decision.
“Director Sailu narrated a story to me, and I really liked it. But I had already completed “Mem Famous”, which had a Telangana backdrop. I felt doing a similar setting again might look repetitive. I conveyed this to him. Later, Akhil took up the project, and it worked well for him,” Sumanth explained.
The actor is now gearing up for the release of his latest film, “Godari Gattupaina”, which is scheduled to hit theaters on the 8th of this month.
Speaking about his new project, Sumanth said, “After “Mem Famous”, I heard many scripts, but I was particularly drawn to the story narrated by Subhash garu. A film set in the Godavari region felt like an exciting challenge and offered great scope for performance. I play an auto-rickshaw driver who values friends and family deeply. It’s a wonderful role.”
He added that the film features a unique auto-rickshaw race sequence, for which he underwent special training.
Sumanth also highlighted the effort he put into mastering the regional dialect. “I was born and raised in Telangana, so I spent nearly four months rehearsing to get the Godavari dialect right. I wanted people from that region to feel that I truly sound like one of them,” he shared.
