Suriya, one of the top stars of the Tamil film industry, first won the hearts of the Telugu audiences with films like “Sivaputrudu” and “Ghajini.” He has successfully dubbed and promoted all his Tamil films in Telugu since then. But he didn’t keep his promise of doing a straight Telugu film.
Although he acted in Ram Gopal Varma’s Telugu film “Rakta Charitra,” Suriya has not signed a mainstream commercial Telugu film yet. Reports suggest that he could now fulfill his commitment to Telugu fans by acting in a straight Telugu commercial entertainer.
There are rumors that producer Naga Vamsi and director Venky Atluri have recently approached Suriya with a proposal. Venky Atluri has been directing Telugu films with Tamil and Malayalam stars. His previous two films were “Sir” (Dhanush) and “Lucky Baskhar” (Dulqer Salmaan), and both featured non-Telugu stars in the lead roles. Since both films became a hit, he is following the same trend of making films with superstars of other language industries.
We have to wait and see whether Suriya agrees to this proposal. Currently, he is working on a film under the direction of RJ Balaji.
