Suriya was inspiration for pan-India films: Rajamouli

SS Rajamouli declared that it was Suriya who inspired him to make films for the pan-Indian market and win the love of all regions. He heaped praise on Suriya’s commitment as an actor and his vision.

Rajamouli attended the “Kanguva” pre-release event in Hyderabad today.

“I took Suriya as a case study when he was promoting his movies, like Ghajini in Telugu. He came down to Telugu states and promoted his movies well. He went out of his way to win our love. He was the inspiration for me to do the same, and I used to tell our Telugu stars and producers to follow Suriya’s path,” Rajamouli said.

Suriya came out of his seat and hugged Rajamouli upon hearing such praise from the ‘Baahubali’ director. Rajamouli also recalled how their combination didn’t work out.

“We were supposed to collaborate on a project. But it didn’t work out. I respect his decision. I love his acting and his screen presence,” Rajamouli added.
