Thalapathy Vijay officially bid farewell to his acting career on December 27 at the grand audio launch event of his upcoming film “Jana Nayagan,” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event, titled Thalapathy Thiruvizha, witnessed an overwhelming turnout of nearly 1 lakh fans. It featured emotional tributes from industry seniors, high-energy dance performances, and a heartfelt address by Vijay, who also danced on stage, making the evening memorable for his fans.
In his emotional speech, Vijay said, “For the fans who gave up everything for me, I am giving up cinema itself.” He explained that he is stepping away from films to focus entirely on politics and public service. Vijay added that he wants to “stand up” for his fans, who have built a “fortress” of support around him over the past 33 years.
Reflecting on his journey, Vijay spoke about the criticism he faced throughout his career but credited his fans for his success. He stated that he now aims to serve the people for the next 30 to 33 years.
Vijay had hinted at this decision earlier during the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in 2024. He is set to enter politics full-time ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
