US BO: Shockingly low start for 2.0

What is happening? ‘2.0’ got huge number of screens, but to everyone’s surprise, the film hasn’t really struck gold at the box office. The film took very low start at USA box-office. Trade pundits expected that the names of Rajinikanth and Shankar would bring more than $2 million opening in USA but the film has not even got half of it.

It should be noted that Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ took in massive 1.9 million dollar opening from premiere shows and its day 1 number is around $2.7 million. This film’s first day is just around $900k. This is shockingly low amount. Final count with premiere shows is yet to be reported. Overall, the premiere and day 1 figure is below one million, which is too low.

‘2.0’ is said to be the most expensive Indian film ever with estimated budget of Rs 500 Cr. The overseas rights were also sold for staggering price. If it doesn’t pick up over this weekend, the distributors would land in big trouble.
