Although “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” initially started off as a remake of Tamil superstar Vijay’s “Theri,” the film ran into multiple delays and production halts. In the meantime, the Hindi remake of “Theri,” titled Baby John, turned out to be a disaster, casting doubt on the future of Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
In response, director Harish Shankar reportedly decided to steer away from a frame-to-frame remake. He retained the core storyline but introduced his signature “maarpulu-cherpulu” (tweaks and changes) and resumed the shoot. At that point, it was speculated that the film would feature only one heroine opposite Pawan Kalyan, unlike the Tamil original where Samantha played Vijay’s wife and Amy Jackson played the teacher.
However, the recent casting confirmation of Raashi Khanna has put those speculations to rest.
Raashi Khanna inclusion suggests that “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is indeed closely following the original Theri template, with Raashi playing the wife’s role and Sreeleela stepping into the teacher’s character.
On the other hand, Mythri Movie Makers, the production house of the film, issued a warning not to share the leaked images from the sets.
