“Gangs of Godavari,” which opened in theaters on Friday, has earned mixed reviews and largely poor ratings from critics.
For a Vishwak Sen starrer, the film opened massively on its first day. After a long time, the box office had significant activity. “Gangs of Godavari” made a lot of money especially in Andhra Pradesh.
The period film, directed by Krishna Chaitanya, follows the rise and fall of Lanka Ratnakar and tells the story of the once-popular Katti Kattudu (tying the trident) rite in the Godavari districts.
To break even, the film must maintain its current momentum over the weekend.
