Satyadev’s “Rao Bahadur” earned widespread appreciation from critics. However, being a niche, content-driven film rather than a mainstream commercial entertainer, its box office performance has reflected that reality.
In the Telugu states, “Rao Bahadur” collected around Rs 4.5 crore gross during its opening weekend. The real surprise came from North America, where the film posted an impressive $300K (approximately Rs 2.95 crore), giving it a strong overseas boost.
With these numbers, the film’s worldwide opening weekend gross has reached close to Rs 7.5 crore.
Despite receiving glowing reviews and positive word of mouth on social media, the film could not convert the appreciation into bigger collections in the Telugu states. However, considering Satyadev’s relatively modest box office market, the film’s overall opening is regarded as respectable, thanks largely to its outstanding performance in the USA.
Directed by Venkatesh Maha, “Rao Bahadur” is a satirical drama. Deepa Thomas plays the female lead, while Satyadev has been widely praised for his powerful performance.
