Weekend Box Office: ‘Raju Weds Rambai’ is the winner

“Raju Weds Rambai” clearly outperformed all three films that hit theaters last Friday. The other releases including Priyadarshi’s “Premante,” Raj Tarun’s “Paanch Minar,” and Allari Naresh’s “12A Railway Colony” couldn’t put up any fight.
“Premante” turned out to be a complete failure, while “12A Railway Colony” was a washout with poor reviews. Raj Tarun has been out of form for a long time, so the result of “Paanch Minar” was very much on expected lines. All three films ended up as total duds.
On the other hand, “Raju Weds Rambai” grew stronger with each passing day.
By the end of the first weekend, the film grossed over Rs 4 crore. This is an impressive figure for a movie made on a very low budget. Even before its release, the OTT deal was locked with ETV Win, and now the film has also minted solid collections in theaters.
Starring newcomers Akhil Uddemari and Tejaswi Rao, the film is a love story set against the backdrop of honor killing. Directed by debutant Saailu Kaampati, “Raju Weds Rambai” has emerged as the latest small-budget Telugu film to score big at the box office.
