Theaters in Maharashtra and other states of India have resumed screenings. In Andhra Pradesh, a couple of theaters and multiplexes in Vishakapatnam and Vijayawada cities also opened again for a few days. But they had to shut down due to a lack of new releases.
But now the exhibitors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are planning to open next month. Producers are also lining up some releases in December.
The theatrical business has been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic. In the entire Telugu film industry, this is the first time that the theaters have remained shut for more than eight months.
Industry analysts say the theatrical business can only get back to its past glory in 2021 or 2022.
