The second wave of coronavirus is creating mayhem in India. All states are registering a record number of cases daily. Telangana’s daily COVID-19 cases have now jumped to 4400. Andhra Pradesh has registered 6000+ cases. The death rate is also increasing.
Although people have not stopped commuting or working, the cases have impacted the movie collections. Footfalls at the cinema halls have come almost to nil. For the past couple of days, ‘Vakeel Saab’ is showing poor numbers at the box office. The start of the new weekend has also not helped the film. The collections remain on the lower side.
Meanwhile, the shoots are also being halted. Some of the big productions have canceled their shoots owing to the crew members have tested positive.
Only films like ‘Acharya’ and ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ are continuing the shoots taking extra measures and following COVID-19 protocols rigorously.
Analysts say the situation would continue the same for another month or so. Tollywood is the only movie industry that has seen robust revenue this year. But the second wave has halted everything.
