An intersection in Mumbai, India’s financial center and home to the Bollywood industry, has been renamed in tribute of the late Sridevi. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has renamed a junction in the Lokhandwala Complex as ‘Sridevi Kapoor Chowk’.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation made this decision to honour her.
Sridevi was born and raised in Madras (now Chennai) in South India, but she relocated to Mumbai after becoming a successful Bollywood actress. She married Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, had two children with him, and lived in the Green Acres building on the same road, which has since been renamed.
In 2018, she was found dead in her guest room at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, the result of an accidental drowning. Her eldest daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, is currently one of India’s most popular actresses.
