A street in Chennai named after the SPB

A Chennai street is going to be named after the late singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam.

On Wednesday, M K Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, announced the renaming of Kamdar Nagar Main Road in Nungambakkam, Chennai, to “S P Balasubramaniam Road” in honor of the legendary playback singer.

With his voice in all Indian languages, SPB, as he is affectionately known, captivated millions. He sang over 40,000 songs, including both film songs and private albums.

During the COVID-19 period, the Padma Vibhushan Awardee passed away due to illness.
