In addition to Nandamuri Balakrishna, four ther prominent Indian film celebrities will also receive the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, this year. The announcement of the Padma Awards took place on the eve of Republic Day.
This year, the Padma Bhushan award will be presented to Ajith Kumar, one of the top stars of the Tamil film industry, Shobana Chandrakumar, a prominent South Indian actress who ruled Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam films in the late 1980s and 90s, and Kannada veteran actor Anant Nag.
The Padma Bhushan will also go to Shekhar Kapur, the great film director of many classics like “Masoom,” “Mr. India,” and “Bandit Queen.”
Ajith Kumar is currently waiting for the release of his new film, Vidaa Muyarchi (“Pattudala” in Telugu). He is one of the biggest superstars in the current South Indian film industry. The non-controversial actor is also into professional racing.
Shobana has acted in many Telugu films, including “Abhinandana,” “Rudraveena,” “April 1 Vidudala,” “Alludu Gaaru,” “Rowdy Alludu,” “Rakshana,” “Kokila,” etc.
Anant Nag is a veteran of Kannada film industry.
