Sports dramas and biopics are the new trends in Tollywood. Writer and producer Kona Venkat today announced a biopic on Karanam Malleswari, who won the bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. She is also the only Indian woman weightlifter to win an Olympic medal.
Her journey is now becoming a feature film. Written and co-produced by Kona Venkat, the film is produced by MVV Satyanarayana. Sanjana Reddy will direct the film.
The makers made an official announcement on the occasion of Karanam Malleswari’s birthday today. The film will be made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. The heroine for the film has not yet been finalized. A top actress is likely to be roped in to play the role of Karanam Malleswari.
