Can Vikram score a hit in Telugu with Thangalan?

Twenty years ago, Vikram was a rage in Telugu. His films used to run through packed houses. Following the success of “Shiva Putrudu” and “Aparachitudu,” Vikram became a huge star in Telugu. Since then, every Tamil film in which he appeared then was dubbed into Telugu.

For nearly a decade, he enjoyed the immense popularity in this area. However, his obsession with films that gave him the chance to switch into different avatars made audiences feel bored. People realized that he was more fascinated with “makeovers” and “getups” than the stories. Thus, his films continued flopping.

After Shankar’s “I Manoharudu,”  he didn’t get a single hit in Telugu.

Now, he is promoting “Thangalan,”  director Pa Ranjith’s film, in the Telugu market with the hope of reviving his craze here. Will he now score a hit?
