Tamil stars are at the receiving end of harsh comments from courts for failing to pay taxes for their imported cars. After Vijay, it is Dhanush’s turn.
Dhanush filed a petition seeking entry tax exemption for his imported Rolls-Royce car. He bought the luxury car nearly a decade ago. The case has been pending, and now it came before Justice SM Subramaniam.
The judge refused to withdraw Dhanush’s petition and asked the actor’s lawyer why he is seeking exemption when he earns crores of rupees. “Common man is paying taxes. Why are the actors who earn big money seeking exemption? Even daily wagers are buying soap, which is taxed. Are they seeking exemption?” the judge wondered.
The judge also reprimanded the actor for not mentioning his profession in his petition.
Tamil superstar Vijay withdrew his petition recently and paid taxes after the same court admonished him. Dhanush will soon make his Telugu debut in director Sekhar Kammula’s film.
