Rashmika Mandanna enjoys massive popularity across India. From being part of multiple pan-Indian blockbusters to maintaining a strong presence in both Telugu and Hindi cinema, she has built a rare cross-industry fanbase. Her social media following, especially on Instagram, remains among the highest for any South Indian actress.
Despite her stardom, Rashmika’s latest outing, the female-centric “The Girlfriend,” opened to modest numbers on Day 1. The film collected around Rs 1.30 crore nett in India and grossed about $100K in the USA, taking its worldwide total to Rs 2.30 crore gross.
While the opening is on the lower side, it isn’t entirely unexpected. Female-led films generally rely more on strong word-of-mouth than opening-day hype. With encouraging reviews and decent audience response, the film is expected to pick up momentum over the weekend.
“The Girlfriend” has received favorable feedback for its sincere storytelling and Rashmika’s compelling performance. Directed by Rahul Ravindran and produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppineedi, the film is presented by Allu Aravind under Geetha Arts.
