After directing acclaimed films like “Mimi” and the recent blockbuster “Chhaava”, filmmaker Laxman Utekar is set to collaborate with Shraddha Kapoor for his next ambitious project.
Titled “Eetha”, the film is a biographical drama based on the life of legendary folk artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar. The makers officially announced the project today, revealing that it will chronicle her remarkable journey, struggles, and rise to fame from the 1940s through the 1990s.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, Eetha reunites the successful creative team behind Chhaava. Shraddha Kapoor will play the titular role, while Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub have been cast in key roles.
The film was shot over a 60-day schedule across multiple locations in Maharashtra and promises to showcase an inspiring chapter from India’s cultural history. For Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha marks a return to the big screen after a considerable gap and is expected to present her in one of the most challenging roles of her career.
The makers have announced August 28, 2026, as the release date, strategically coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan holiday weekend.
