Streaming platforms are increasingly playing a key role in deciding the release schedules of big-ticket Telugu films. Prabhas’s “Fauji”, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, is now at the center of such speculation.
According to industry buzz, the period drama has been progressing at a slower pace than initially planned, with a significant portion of the shoot still pending. There were reports that director Hanu Raghavapudi was considering pushing the film’s release to 2027 to ensure ample time for production and post-production.
However, Netflix, which has reportedly acquired the film’s digital streaming rights, is said to have insisted that the film be released within the 2026 calendar year. Reports suggest the streaming giant has conveyed to Mythri Movie Makers that any delay beyond the agreed window could lead to a reduction in the previously negotiated deal value.
Following this, the production house has reportedly asked the director to speed up filming and target a theatrical release in December 2026.
Such conditions are not unusual in today’s business. Streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video typically finalize annual content calendars well in advance, making timely theatrical releases important for their acquisition strategy.
