The fantasy adventure drama “Mirai,” which hit theaters on September 12, passed the crucial Monday test. After performing strongly during the first weekend, most films see a huge drop on their first Monday. “Mirai,” too, saw a fall, but not that steep. In fact, it held well.
“Mirai” collected Rs 6 crore nett in India on Monday, a 64 percent drop from Sunday. While the Telugu version continued to post good numbers, the film’s Hindi version saw a huge drop. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions completely closed their run by the first weekend itself, as they were totally non-starters.
The Hindi version collected Rs 1.15 crore and took its total cumulative nett to Rs 9.3 Cr (only Hindi version).
The overall four-day collections in India now stand at Rs 50 Cr (nett), a very impressive number. In North America, the film having grossed $1.7 million is slowly inching toward the $2 million mark.
Directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, “Mirai” featured Teja Sajja in the lead role, with Manoj Manchu playing the antagonist and Ritika Nayaka as the heroine. Shriya played Teja Sajja’s mother.
