While promoting his upcoming film “Idly Kadai,” Tamil star Dhanush recalled that as a child he once wanted to buy idly but couldn’t due to his family’s financial struggles.
The remark quickly sparked trolling online, with many pointing out that his father, Kasthuri Raja, was a filmmaker and questioning how the family could have been “that poor.”
Addressing the criticism at another event, Dhanush clarified: “I was born in 1983. My father became a director in 1991. Our family attained a stable income and lifestyle only after 1995. What I mentioned was about my childhood, before my pre-teen years.”
Today, Dhanush stands as one of India’s wealthiest actors. He even built a lavish mansion in Chennai, which he gifted to his parents. His brother Selvaraghavan has also carved out a successful career as a director.
