Don’t sell movies for direct-OTT: Telangana Film Chamber

Today, the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce appealed to Telugu film producers asking them to postpone their OTT deals. Many films have already initiated talks for direct-digital release. But the chamber of commerce urged producers to save cinema theaters and wait until October.

The chamber is hopeful that theatrical business would return to normal by October. Hence, they had requested producers not to kill the exhibitor sector by closing deals with OTT companies.

Telangana state government has permitted running the theaters. But theaters have remained shut.

The lockdown restrictions in Andhra Pradesh are continuing. Moreover, the AP government recently put a cap on movie tickets, which is a huge setback to the theatrical business.

Big-ticket movies like ‘Acharya’, ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘KGF 2’ can only hit the theaters only when all these issues are resolved.
