Hijras object to Naga Shaurya's portrayal

‘Narthanasala’, the upcoming release is getting objection from third-gender persons in Hyderabad. A group of Hijras staged protest at Film Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad demanding stalling of the film’s release. Their complaint is that Naga Shaurya has insulted hijras in the film.

They came to this conclusion with the movie’s trailer that showed that Naga Shaurya playing the role of a guy who doesn’t get aroused by women at all. Going by the trailer, his body language is similar to that of third-gender person. They said the film is completely portraying them in bad light.

However, the makers had denied of any reference to hijras in the movie. They say it is a comedy movie about a guy who doesn’t feel anything sexual towards women as he was raised amidst women since childhood. What happens if two women love him? This is the basic story; it has nothing to do with hijras or gay men, the makers insist.

The film directed by Srinivas is releasing worldwide on August 30.
