‘Homebound’ is India’s official entry to Oscars 2026

Director Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound” has been selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2026. The film stars Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa in pivotal roles.

“Homebound” has already garnered acclaim on the global festival circuit. It premiered in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2025, where it received a nine-minute standing ovation.

Backed by Dharma Productions, the film explores caste and religious biases in India through the story of two friends navigating personal struggles while confronting deep-rooted social prejudices.

The film marks a significant milestone in Janhvi Kapoor’s career, as it could bring her first global recognition if “Homebound” makes it to the final shortlist for Oscar consideration.
