Tamil movie ‘Visaranai’, directed by Vetrimaaran, was selected as India’s official entry for Oscar Awards 2017. Ketan Mehta, the jury chairperson of Film Federation of India today announced this at a press meet held in Hyderabad.
“The jury had seen all the movies that are in competition. Of the 29 films that came up, we have unanimously voted for Vetrimaran’s moving saga ‘Visaranai’. We believe this would represent our movie best at Oscars,” Ketan Mehta said.
‘Visaranai’ is a crime-thriller that deals with police brutality, corruption, and loss of innocence in the face of injustice,” the movie’s wikipedia page describes about the movie. It is directed by Vetrimaaran and produced by Tamil star Dhanush.
