“Premalu” was the film that transformed Mamitha Baiju into a sensation among young audiences. The romantic comedy emerged as a blockbuster in Kerala and its Telugu-dubbed version also found success, significantly boosting her popularity across the Telugu states.
Following the film’s phenomenal run, the makers officially announced a sequel, raising expectations among fans eager to see the lead pair reunite on screen.
However, there now appears to be disappointing news for those fans. Actor Naslen, who played the male lead in “Premalu”, has revealed that the sequel has been shelved.
Speaking in a recent interview, Naslen said the project could not move forward due to complications that arose during the script development stage. As a result, the team decided to drop the sequel despite the popularity of the original film.
While “Premalu 2” may no longer be happening, Mamitha Baiju’s career has continued to soar. She will next be seen opposite Suriya in “Vishwanath And Sons”, one of the most anticipated Tamil films, which is scheduled to hit theaters on August 14, 2026.
